Mr. AbdulMajeed Melhem is the Chief Executive Officer of Palestine Telecommunications Group (PALTEL), a flagship telecommunications and information technology company in Palestine.
Before his current post, Mr. Melhem served as the Chief Executive Officer of Palestine Cellular Communications Company (Jawwal) in February 2022. The company's Board of Directors promoted him to this position due to his wise management of Jawwal during the preceding years, which contributed to the amelioration and Development of the company's performance in several fields, especially after he assumed the general director position in 2014.
At the beginning of 2018, Mr. Melhem and his team overcame obstacles and challenges and accomplished a national record by launching 3G services, which represented a major leap in data transfer and speed. This constituted the first step into digitalization in Palestine.
In 2020, within his vision of digital leadership, Mr. Melhem launched Jawwal Pay, a national e-payment service, to become the first company with an ultimate license from the Palestinian Monetary Authority (PMA). Jawwal Pay launched its multi-service trade for e-payment and a comprehensive smart e-wallet in Palestine that allows subscribers to complete all daily transactions swiftly and safely.
Mr. Melhem started his professional career in Jawwal in 1999, assuming several managerial positions, including sales manager and customer service manager. In 2012, the Board of Directors promoted him to General Manager of PALTEL. During his 4-year tenure, Mr. Melhem and his team enhanced investment in the network infrastructure, employed the most recent techniques to increase, increased the spread of internet services, and amplified it in Palestine. Under his leadership, PALTEL was able to establish the first direct link to the Palestinian network via international undersea cable, placing PALTEL as an equivalent with grand telecommunication companies in the Middle East.
Mr. Melhem is the chairman of the JAWWAL Pay Board of Directors, a member of the Board of Trustees of Hebron University, a member of the PADICO industrial executive committee, and a member of the executive office of the Palestinian Olympic Committee.
Mr. Melhem has a BA in Accounting and Financial Sciences from Hebron University. He also received specialized Management, Financial Sciences, and Marketing certificates from esteemed international institutions.
